We went out shopping today to fill up our Operation Christmas Child boxes. It was nice to give the girls a tangible example of what Christmas should be like.
Afterward, we prayed over the boxes and sent them on their way. I hope they sent blessings wherever they landed…

The Bride has started doing something special at the end of the day with each kid. She takes them aside and tells them four things she liked about them that day and then for a fifth thing says, “I love you just the way you are.” Then she asks them how she can pray for them.
My girls are lucky to have such a great mom. Almost as lucky as I am to have such a great wife.

There are few greater places to be than Notre Dame Stadium. For lack of a better term, it’s a spiritual experience.
The Fighting Irish rose to the occasion as well and decimated Nevada 35-0.

Today was McKenna’s last day of Gopher Gulch. Last night was her overnight and she did great! She had a great time and especially loved panning for gold and the sleepover.
See ya next year, Gopher Gulch!

Road Trip ‘09 Day 2: We left San Francisco after a ride down Lombard Street and a stop to view the Golden Gate Bridge and then headed north up the 101. This has to be one of the most beautiful drives in the entire nation.
We eventually got to a stretch of highway called the “Avenue of the Giants” where the sides of the road are lined with giant redwoods. The highlight was a stop at Founder’s Grove where we took the girls on a half-mile hike through some of the biggest trees, the highlight being the 380-foot fallen Dyerville Giant.
This picture was taken when the girls had their eyes close are were listening to the stillness of the forest in order to “hear God.”

The most joyous day of the year with three of the greatest joys of my life.

The girls dyed their Easter eggs this afternoon. Before they started, I got a shot of this lonely little egg sitting on the table right before it got crayoned, colored and stickered aplenty. I liked the contrast of it and also the symbolic reference to the resurrection and how the risen Christ takes away all the junk we have accumulated and wipes us clean.
Just like that lonely little egg.

It rained like crazy today. My five year old was looking out the window when she started screaming, “RAINBOW! RAINBOW!” She’d never seen one before and couldn’t have been more excited.

Yes, faithful reader – An update!
First, what’s this thing to the right? That’s my first submission in Project 365 for 2009. Basically, the goal is to take a picture a day for every day of the year. My hope is to have a visual experience for 2009 that I can look back on and say where I’ve gone and, hopefully, where I’m at. If you’re interested, come join the Project!
I’m doing things a little differently this year – no real resolutions to speak of other than becoming a better man for my family and those around me. I have a few goals – I’d really like to finish the recording for Anything/Everything and play another show, this time with a full band. I think I’m going to give the read the Bible in a year thing a try too. Other than that, I just want to slow down a little and enjoy my three little princesses who are already growing up way too fast.
I have some back-blogging to do as well. The end of the year got crazy busy and I missed chronicling my annual trip to Chicago and the vacation the Bride and I took to Cabo – not too mention some super cute pictures of the girls.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s picture!
